ONLINE COVER Ionic Spiderweb. Spiders leverage the sticky and translucent properties of the webs they spin to capture their prey; these webs also provide a mechanically compliant structure for the spider to traverse. Inspired by the multifunctonality of spiderwebs, Lee et al. fabricated artificial webs from strands of stretchable and ionically conductive organogel encapsulated with silicone rubber. By leveraging electrostatic effects, this so-called ionic spiderweb can provide sensing, adhesion, and self-cleaning abilities. This month's cover is an illustration of an ionic spiderweb (see also the Focus by Rossiter). [CREDIT: YOUNGHEE LEE]
